Where to catch the Griffin

The Griffin lives in Mountains (zone 6 of 17), on the far edge of the zone. It is number 7 of 7 in the Mountains index – the very top. A full-strength throw needs roughly 880 – 1,000 Throw Power to land in Mountains.

Foods that land here: Mushroom ($30B), Bacon (~$150B). A higher-tier food pushes the roll toward the rarer end of the Mountains list, so the newest food you own is always the best bait.

Plain throws rarely produce the top animal of a zone. Use the best food you can afford, land the throw on the far edge of Mountains, and save lucky throws for it. Already past Mountains? Lower throw strength with the gear icon so the food lands here again.

Is it worth keeping?

  • A plain Griffin earns 40x a plain Seal, the best animal from Ocean.
  • The first animal in Taiga, the Cockatrice, makes 3.2x as much – once your throws reach Taiga, replace it.
  • Keep it longer only if it rolled a strong mutation or size (see the table below) or you need it for the index.

Griffin income by mutation and size

A plain Griffin makes $2.5B/s. Mutations and sizes multiply that number, and the two stack. The table below multiplies the plain income by the multipliers I have measured (Gold ×1.5, Diamond ×3, Emerald ×5, Ruby ×10, Rainbow ×20; Big ×2, Large ≈×4.3, Huge ≈×9, Colossal ≈×18.5, Gigantic ≈×37). Treat the size columns as estimates – real catches land a little above or below. With the 2x Cash gamepass every number doubles.

Real catch cards. Odds are the “1 in …” number the card shows, which already includes the luck of that throw.
