Where your luck comes from
Every throw shows a luck multiplier while the food is in the air. Three things feed it:
- Distance. The counter rises as the food flies. A throw to the end of the current map tops out just under 50x luck (49.9x is the highest I have seen at max power).
- Food. Higher-tier food shifts the whole roll upward. That is why a new food inside the same zone suddenly gives Gold and Diamond animals.
- Boosts. Lucky Throws, Server Luck and admin events multiply on top of everything else.
When the food lands, the roll animation counts up through the luck tiers. Where it stops decides the animal (the zone's index from common to rarest), the mutation and the size. The catch card shows the final odds, like “1 in 48,400”.
Lucky Throws and Best-of-30
Lucky Throws are stored throws (they appear as rainbow carrots) that you fire with the “Best of” button while the meter runs. A Lucky Throw does three things:
- Sets the meter to maximum automatically, so every one is a Perfect throw.
- Applies 100x luck to the throw.
- Rolls the mutation and size 30 times and keeps the best result.
The third point is the important one. Best-of-30 is why lucky throws almost never return a plain animal – practically everything comes back with at least one mutation.
When to spend your lucky throws
- Right after unlocking a new zone with a new food. The jump from a plain catch to a Huge/Rainbow catch is largest here.
- Mountains are the best early target: a single 100x throw there can produce a billion-per-second animal while you still earn millions.
- At max power in the Nuclear Wasteland, when you are hunting a specific size (Titanic, Monstrous, Cosmic) of the Waste Harvester.
- Not in early zones – unless you are deliberately completing the index.
Server luck and events
Server Luck stacked in steps (2x, 4x, 8x, 16x) for 15 minutes for everyone on the server. It has since been taken out of the shop, but admin events still hand out server-wide luck: before the Nuclear Wasteland opened, the countdown event ran 8x training, 8x money and 32x luck for every player.
If you ever see a server-wide luck boost running, that is the moment to use stored lucky throws – the multipliers stack.
