Where to catch the Hyena

The Hyena lives in Savannah (zone 2 of 17), in the front part of the zone. It is number 2 of 6 in the Savannah index. A full-strength throw needs roughly 150 – 350 Throw Power to land in Savannah.

Foods that land here: Toast ($4,000), Orange ($20,000). A higher-tier food pushes the roll toward the rarer end of the Savannah list, so the newest food you own is always the best bait.

Any throw that lands in the front part of the zone can produce it. If you are hunting it for the index, lower your throw strength with the gear icon until the food lands on that spot – distance inside a zone decides which animals can come.

Is it worth keeping?

• A plain Hyena earns 8x a plain Pony, the best animal from Forest.
• The best plain earner here is the Lion ($1K/s), 5x this one.
• The first animal in Desert, the Hamster, makes 7.5x as much – once your throws reach Desert, replace it.
• Keep it longer only if it rolled a strong mutation or size (see the table below) or you need it for the index.

• Claim the free Hyena before your very first throw; it covers the Steel and Gold Bars almost by itself.

Hyena income by mutation and size

A plain Hyena makes $200/s. Mutations and sizes multiply that number, and the two stack. The table below multiplies the plain income by the multipliers I have measured (Gold ×1.5, Diamond ×3, Emerald ×5, Ruby ×10, Rainbow ×20; Big ×2, Large ≈×4.3, Huge ≈×9, Colossal ≈×18.5, Gigantic ≈×37). Treat the size columns as estimates – real catches land a little above or below. With the 2x Cash gamepass every number doubles.
